THE BEAUTYImpoverished aristocrat Isabella Vernaducci would defy death itself to rescue her imprisoned brother. Though fear formed a fist around her heart, she'd even brave the haunted, accursed lair of the lion - the menacing palazzo of legendary, lethal Don Nicolai DeMarco...THE BEASTRumor said the powerful don could command the heavens, that the beast below did his bidding... and that he was doomed to destroy the woman he took as his wife. It was whispered he was not wholly human - as untamed as his tawny mane and slashing amber eyes.THE BARGAINBut Isabella met a man whose growl was velvet, purring heat, whose eyes held dark, all-consuming desire. And when the don commanded her to become his bride, she went willingly into his muscled arms, praying she'd save his tortured soul... not sacrifice her life. ...
I
am a fan of Christine Feehan’s “Dark” books, so I
didn’t hesitate to pick this book up. Lair
of the lion reminded me of Beauty And The Beast fairytale, which in fact
was a big plus.
The Heroine, Isabella Vernaducci is in desperate need of help,
and the only person who could help her has never been seen only heard off.
Isabella decided to embark on a long and perilous journey one no bloke, dude,
chap, has ever accomplished and from which few have ever returned! She needed
to beseech help from the formidable and much feared Don Nicolai DeMarco. When
she finally arrives on his threshold, the domestics in his isolated palazzo begged
her to flee and never look back. Isabella insists she
must see him. Nicolai is her last hope to save the life of her brother!
Nicolai, rumored to be half man, half beast, is
extremely influential and she hopes that if Nicolai cannot coax Don Rivellio to
pardon Lucca, Isabella’s brother, he could arrange her brother’s escape.
When Isabella met Don DeMarco, she is mystified by
the stories about him. He has some blemishes… yes, but in spite of them she
finds a striking and exciting man. She can’t comprehend why his servants, who
hold him in reverence and fondness, won’t look directly at him. What DO they see when they look directly at
Don DeMarco then?
HA! Like I’d say… read and find out
I began Lair of the Lion with great
eagerness and I liked it! Unfortunately, the story dragged for me. It was an
interesting storyline, I love the witty conversations, the innocent flirting
and the humor but it felt a bit repetitive and it became a little off putting.
Yet, I was engrossed in the world Feehan has created. The twist and suspense where worth the
repetitiveness of the book because The story was riveting and mind blowing, as secrets
unravel, you can’t help but smile and wonder whats next? They were some edge of
your sit moments… all in all; it was a good book I enjoyed reading!

The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it. ~James Bryce
