THE FALSE PRINCE is the thrilling first book in a brand-new trilogy filled with danger and deceit and hidden identities that will have readers rushing breathlessly to the end. In a discontent kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point -- he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well. As Sage moves from a rundown orphanage to Conner's sumptuous palace, layer upon layer of treachery and deceit unfold, until finally, a truth is revealed that, in the end, may very well prove more dangerous than all of the lies taken together. An extraordinary adventure filled with danger and action, lies and deadly truths that will have readers clinging to the edge of their seats.
THE FALSE
PRINCE is the thrilling first book in a brand-new trilogy filled with danger
and deceit and betrayal. The vital drama lies in the contest of wills between
Sage, the most insolent of the orphans, and the cruel virtuous Conner, who may
be atrocious, but is trying to keep the kingdom from civil war, fomented by
Lord Santhias Veldergreth, enemy to the kingdom. Sage and three orphan boys,
with the same physical attributes are being forced to vie in a lethal
competition. They have to convince and LIE to the king’s court that they are
not only noblemen, but also the king’s relative and save the kingdom. Four boys
where chosen, yet only one is needed! What happens to the remaining boys? The
rejects will take the secret to their graves… by wish or force! I loved loved
this book! It kept me on the edge of my sit, heart racing, wondering what will
happen to the characters I’d grown attached to. Jennifer A. Nielsen has
reminded me how much I love fantasy, and that I should read more of it. I enjoy
nothing more than a new world to discover and Nielson gave me that in spades.
Jennifer A.
Nielsen is an author that captivates her readers right from the very first page.
I enjoyed the numerous twists and turns in the plot, and was awed by Nielsen's
grab of expression and dialogue. Nielsen has everything I like in a fantasy –
witty characters, scheme, murder, treachery, loyalty, and a conceited princess.
It was astounding! As you delve further into this exciting story, the side
effects are nails biting, jaw dropping, nervousness, wincing, cheering,
shooting death glares and worry for Sage. It was worth it! Sage is the life of
this masterpiece and I would highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a
well-told story with plethora of adventure and political conspiracy. I can’t
wait for the sequel!!!
A great
fantasy novel, based on an old time where carriages were pulled by horses,
servants paid of their debts by being housemaids and peasants dare not look
upon a lady unless spoken too directly.
We follow
Sage an orphan who is a good thief, liar, and manipulator from the testaments
of most adults around him. His life is turned upside down when an nobleman
named Conner bought him from the orphanage and took him on a wild adventure. In
this adventure three other boys from various orphanages join Sage.
When Conner
finally reveals his true intentions Sage is faced with tough choices - to
choose between country, life and death. He is actually in for a fight for his
life. The boys face arduous training and tests, which can only birth one
victor. Who will be the chosen in the end? An adventurous story with great
twists that will have you hooked to the end.
