Title: Sweet Evil
Author: Wendy Higgins
Series: The Sweet
Trilogy # 1
Genre: Young Adult (YA)
Publisher: Harper Teen
Paperback: 348 pages
Pub Date: May 1st 2012
Embrace the ForbiddenWhat if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences? This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
Wow! Well, This is an original. Exciting! Exhilarating!
Electrifying! How else can I put this into words?
Sweet evil centers on Anna Whitt. A teenage girl who struggles
with her inner demon literally! Anna is matchless; she has a gift that allows
her to see the emotions of others. On her sixteenth birthday she meets the Hot
and mysterious Kaidan Rowe, a drummer in a band and drop dead magnificent.
Kaidan, AKA son of the demon of lust is like Anna, except he knows what he is
and what he was raised to do. Anna doesn’t! She is instantly drawn to him
even with his bad boy reputation. As for Kaidan, he starts to feel something
rather than lust for the first time. Love? Remorse? Or guilt? As the story
unfolds, there are hints at an epic battle yet to come. And I can’t wait on
till the final showdown.
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins was such an astounding read. This
book was an original take on angels and demons in an intriguing way. I loved
how Higgins demons are diverse from similar books on demons that I have read
because the author created the Nephilim’s, made them her own, and it was
mesmerizing. There was an addictive quality about this book and I couldn’t get
enough! The characters in this book were an amusing bunch, a fun blend of
characters. My favs where Kaidan, son of the demon of lust… love
interest, Kopano, son of the demon of wrath, an enigma and Anna, the daughter
of the demon of drugs and alcohol and an angel of light! (Talk about Halos and
Pitchforks)!
Though I liked all the characters and I enjoy each moment
they all brought to the story, I am curious to see where Kaidan’s story will go
after this debut book. Higgins did a great job with her world building,
she offers a remarkable swirl on how demons influences humans. The tale is filled
with demons, angels and all kinds of sups. She also included the seven deadly
sins and made Dukes out of the seven deadly sins, while building the hierarchy
for Demon Dukes and their offspring. It was unique! I am looking forward to the
next chapter of the book, because the ending was jaw dropping and startling!

Series:
The Sweet Trilogy # 2
Genre: Young Adult (YA)
Publisher: Harper Teen
Paperback: 464 pages
Pub Date: April 13th 2012
Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. She’d been naive about a lot of things.
Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind. When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life
