Dawn & Winnie Book Reviews
Touch of Power (Healer #1)By Maria V. SnyderLaying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan absorbs their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Fifteen Realms, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos. Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life...
Great Book! I love it! I have never read Maria V. Snyder’s book, but after reading Power of
touch, I decided she is one of my favorite authors!!! This book is a piece of
art and the author is an artist! This is the debut book in the Healer series and a book worth reading!
Is a book full of humor, Laugh Out Loud comments, action, mystery, drama,
adventure, and romance, betrayal even stupidity! It has it all!
Avry of Kazan,
once revered healer is tired of running.
She’d been running for the last 3 years she is almost thankful when she
is caught, as a Healer her kind is hated by most of the populace of the Fifteen
Realms because healer are blamed for a plague that killed millions of people.
However, the night before the death sentence she is rescued but then taken
prisoner by Prince Kerrick and his men. Prince Kerrick of Alga needs Avry, but
not for the bounty placed on healers, Avry is needed to heal Prince Ryne, who
is suffering from the plague. Worst should Avry attempt healing; she would die…
whose life is more important?
Well! In a time where the
populace is vulnerable, greedy magicians sought to exploit the people by force
and fear! The only person, who could help defeat the greedy King Tohon, is
Prince Ryne, Prince Kerrick’s Friend, Avry’s sworn enemy! Avry was taken to
Prince Ryne, but would she heal him? And NO!, Avry did not fall for Prince Ryne…

Hunted, Killed—Survived? As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avry of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winning control of the Realms, Avry is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.Though she should be in hiding, Avry will do whatever she can to support Tohon’s opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon’s most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead—human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.War is coming and Avry is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.
A Big thanks to NetGalley and
Harlequin for the advance copy of Scent Of Magic Healer Series # 2: Expected
Publication December 2012.
Scent Of Magic is the 2nd book in the healer
series and I loved this book as much as I loved the first book, Touch Of Power. I
couldn’t stop reading Scent Of Magic because Maria V Snyder aced this
storyline! The humor, the wit, the suspense and the tension were heart racing and edge of my
sit. I enjoyed reading the book from both Kerrick’s POV and Avry’s POV!
The old gangs were all present and the stakes
are higher than ever! The surprises are jaw dropping… I can’t give anything
away but this book was worth my time.
Scent of Magic had great pace, great action and very entertaining.
The ending though… OMG. Only… WOW, there wasn't another part for
me to find out WTF is going on!!! I
can’t wait for book three and whoa!!! it would be a long wait.
