Chicagoland Vampires By Chloe Neill

Title: Some Girls Bite
Author: Chloe Neill
Series: Chicagoland Vampires # 1
Publisher: NAL Penguin
Paperback: 341 pages
Pub Date: February 2009
First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student's introduction into a society of vampires.Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn't exactly glamorous, but it was Merit's. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker-and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she's traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan "Lord o' the Manor" Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries' worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude- and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan's attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone's still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago's nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war-and there will be blood.
This is the debut book in the Chicagoland vampire series and  love it! Funny, Riveting, Enthralling Addictive Emotional, Thrilling and lodes of twist! I like Chloe Neill’s writing, she keeps you entertain and enthralled. I also like the world she woven. I highly recommend her books and I am a fan 4 Stars!!!!

A great vamp series. No teen drama. In this world Vamps have just come out of the closet. Humans are on the edge on trusting and trying top annihilate them But what they don't know is that vamps are not the only supernatural creatures out there. We have fairies, shapeshifters and creatures that we have no names for even.  We follow Merit who unfortunately got bitten by a rogue vampire and was left for dead. The only thing is- she did not die- she was saved by one of the most elite of Vampires- Ethan. But by surviving that massacre Merit is thrown in the world of vamps where she must learn to follow their rules. She is not the follower and finds herself challenging her Master every chance she gets. But as Merit tries to adjust to this new life  she is also faced wiith the task of finding her killer, before he strikes again. But is she ready for the answers she will get- definitely good read one and a half thumbs up

   Title: Friday Night Bites

Author: Chloe Neill
Series: Chicagoland Vampires # 2
Publisher: NAL Penguin
Paperback: 341 pages
Pub Date: October 2009
Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they're enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves-mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle-the citizens will start sharpening their stakes. So now it's up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn't want peace between them-someone with an ancient grudge...
This next installment follows Merit moving into the cadogan house, but at a price. Friday Night Bites starts weeks after the conclusion of SGB. Rumor has it that the shifter pack leader Gabriel Keene aims to hold a shape shifters summit in Chicago, and there are also rumors that Jamie Breckenridge is taking an interest in the underground vampire raves. (NOT GOOD!) In order to suppress any unpleasant press and comprehend Jamie’s motive, Ethan asks Merit to return to her high society connections, case in point her father! (DOUBLE NOT GOOD!) As Merit and Ethan hang out with Chicago’s high society, Nick Breckenridge, boyfriend from Merit’s past brings new hitch for the vampire community.  Meanwhile, Ethan and Merit’s attraction are getting stronger. Also Morgan, Master Vamp, Merit’s supposed boyfriend isn’t too please with Ethan being a little handsy! Merit’s allegiances, strength, and willpower continue to be tested as human-supernatural relationship become increasingly edgy and questionable. I liked reading this book! Chloe Neill knows how to tell a story that keeps you engrossed and greedy for more! She is funny and witty! I really really liked it!

With the second installment in this series  Merit is finally adjusting to her life. In addition to being a new vamp she also has to adjust to her new position as sentinal and her BFF being a witch. As if that is niot alot to handle her current flame is now the new head of Novarrie, and merit is torn between duty and maintaining this strangled relationship. Vamp raves are on the rise and as sentinal Merit must get to the bottom of it before humans find out. Who is  behind all this and will Celina stay locked up for good now. I give it two thumbs up

 Title: Twice Bitten

Author: Chloe Neill

Series: Chicagoland Vampires # 3
Publisher: NAL Penguin
Paperback: 368 pages
Pub Date: July 6th  2010
Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master Vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit, Chicago's newest vampire. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene-and to spy for the vamps while she's at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan's offering some steamy, one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.
Unfortunately, someone is gunning for Gabriel, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She'll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals-not least between her and a certain green-eyed, centuries-old master vampire.
Let me just say, that this is my favorite book in the series  so far!!!! And I am hoping it gets better! Ahem…. Twice bitten starts right off where FNB ends. Merit is concentrating on protecting Gabriel Keene, the shifter's pack leader.  Plus, Merit has a secret, the Red Guards; a secret society of vampires is trying to recruit Merit. They believe she could be a big help. Merits first mission is to guard the pack Alpha’s during a pre summit at a shifter bar. (BIG DEAL!) The leaders from all four-shape shifter divisions are in presence.  But things didn’t go as planned. The bar is under the attack of gunfire and it look like there is a hit out on Gabriel Keene. During the attack, Merit notices the cook is about to walk into the gunfire. She jumps out and saves the woman from any serious damage, sustaining a few injuries that heal quickly, but gaining approval and even respect from some of the shifters. Also, the romance between Sullivan and Merit really picks up at this point. They finally connected (wink wink). It was perfect! BUT, things took on a wrong turn, Ethan the ever political, logical, age-old vampire didn’t plan on how his emotions for Merit might change his relation and his feelings, so he decided that they would be better not being together. Merit was heartbroken and chose to persevere. The day after the break-up, Ethan's old squeeze, Lacey Sheridan shows up and the tension between Merit and Ethan heats up. DRAMA!  I loved this book, again this is another winner for Ms. Neill and I must say that I enjoyed every minute. I especially liked the twist and turns, plots and conflicts and the blossoming romance.

We finally get to meet the shapeshifters. Woohoo boy oh boy.  Shapeshifters are in town and as a good gesture Ethan offers up his best- Sentinel Merit to assist in the bodyguard duties of the alpha while in town. When someone does try to take out the alpha Merit works closely with Ethan to find the perp. But as they continue on this hunt  secret alliances are revealed, and more betrayals unraveled.  Can Merit win the trust of the shifters, while keeping up the good rep of vamps in the human eye? New enemies and twists you still would not expect. We finally get to see a little Merit - Ethan action as well.( what took them so long?) this is one of my favorites in the series.I have a new found love for the shapeshifters. Two Thumbs Up

Title: Hard Bitten
Author: Chloe Neill
Series: Chicagoland Vampires # 4
Publisher: NAL Penguin
Paperback: 350 pages
Pub Date: May 2011
Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals-and they're camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan are...tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn't help that she can't tell who's on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who's tall, dark, and part of underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago's supernatural society-a world full of vampires who seem ready to fulfill the protesting human's worst fears, and a place where she'll learn that you can't be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands...
Sniff, Sniff, Ms. Neill How could you??? Why? What did we do? Ahem

OMG!!!!! Okay, I didn’t see this one coming! This book is unpredictable, AND left fans PISSED! What the fuck was that?

Hard Bitten is the fourth book in the series. And this has been one of the finest, shrewdly plotted, and reliable written vampire series out there and this book is no exception.

Vampires in Chi town, have been accused of killing humans at Raves, massive human feeding…!  Mayor Tate is pissed, worst; the mayor is threatening Sullivan, Master of Cadogan House, with an arrest if Sullivan doesn’t fix the scandal. While Ethan is livid at what’s happening, and with Tate’s threat hanging on his beautiful blond hair, I mean his head; he knows something needs to be done. However, the GP wants Sullivan and the rest of the houses to leave humans to their fate and do nothing.  The hatred for Vamps is palpable, humans are camping out in front of Cadogan house and the former Head of Navarre house, the deceitful Celina, is loose in the city! Talk about chaos for team Cadogan. Ethan and Merit has a lot to deal with! Things also gets shoddier when Darius West, head of the vampire ruling Presidium, shows up with just a few hours notice… demanding order or else! As it turns out the reason for the Violent Rave is caused by “ V”, VERITAS … a drug causing vamps to become violent and prey on humans. But who is the distributor? And why?

As Merit works to unravel the reason behind the chaos and VERITAS, Darius West seems to be going out of his way to threaten Ethan and put Cadogan house under receivership (Ultimate insult!).  In the end, this story was full of heart wrenching surprises!!!! Painful and just heart breaking!!! I was in tears, hopeless!!!! Ms Neill took a truly daring prospect with this ending!!! Damn it!!! (Sniff, Sniff). So now what? I hate it!

OK no way in hell did I see this coming. Everything is running wild- Humans hate vamps- Vamps are killing humans and for some weird reason everyone blames Cadogen house for all the shit that's going down now. Mayor Tate has given Ethan an ultimatum and  the GP wants the vamps to stay out of human affairs.whichever way you look at it Ethan is on the verge of loosing his home. What will merit do? with all the human protests and a new guy Mc Ketrick in town it is hard for Merit to get to the bottom of things In addition The Red Guard want Merit. What is going to be her choice? this book had me turning pages non stop, with a damn unexpected cliff hanger end. Even though I am mad I cannot  rebuff the author Two thumbs up

   Title: Hard Bitten

Author: Chloe Neill
Series: Chicagoland Vampires # 5
Publisher: NAL Penguin
Paperback: 350 pages
Pub Date: November 1st  2011
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.
That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike
If I haven’t said this before I love birds, they are such fascinating creatures!!! Song Sparrow, Red-tailed Hawk, woodpeckers and especially Phoenix!  Phoenix are mythical birds, they have long life cycles, but near the end of their lives, they ignite; the birds burn powerfully and are abridged to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again!

Drink Deep is the newest installment in author Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series. Merit is still mourning a loss of our beloved!!!  Yet still facing drama from the receiver Frank Cabot, appointed by the GOP Who is observing and changing the house rules! Also, Cadogan House is in the middle of a new vampire-loathing mayor and a mercenary out for genocide. (Almost looks like Tate is the lesser of two evils).

All of this is before Lake Michigan mysteriously turns black, and then the sky begins to bleed and earth moves... Where is the fourth element, fire? Who is responsible and why? Merit has to figure this out, why trying to understand her new partner, deal with loosing Ethan and ponder WHF is going on with her best- friend! Worst she is no longer the house Sentinel!!! Case in point the “RED GAURDS” are looking way too good!  Chloe Neill upset most fans with the key plot twist in the previous installment, Hard Bitten, and reading Drink Deep was both hell and heaven yet… beguiling!!!! In this chapter everything is apparently going against Merit, but she did solve the mystery and kept strong for her house and those who needs her. I utterly love this series. It is just an astonishingly written piece of work that clutches you from the first sheet of the first volume. And like any other series, in the middle things completely change. Merit remains a strong role model in this installment. Her strength, character and loyalty is splendid.  And the conclusion is riveting and stunning. I was speechless!!!! 4 stars

I thought I was surprised by the last one, but this book caught me so off guard. The bad guy is of the most unlikely suspect- Why/ that question still lingers. Ethan is gone, Cadogen house is taken over by the GP- who I must say seems as if he has a stick up his you know what. The house suffering while faced with blood rations, extreme tests and interrogation. At the same time Merit is heartbroken the Red Guard is still out for her and the city of Chicago is plagued by supernatural happenings. And guess who is getting all the blame? Yup- Vamps. The sky is red the river black and massive earthquakes erupting randomly. Other supernaturals are being affected as well. Merit tasks herself with getting to the bottom of this just to clear the vampires' name. But is she being deceived by the ones she trusts. Two thumbs up Cannot wait for the next one.
