Eragon (Inheritance #1)
By
Christopher Paolini
When young Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his adopted family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of inescapable destiny, magical forces, and powerful people. With only an ancient sword and the instruction of an old, mysterious, hermit storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by an Emperor whose evil and power knows no bounds. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands….
This story starts
with a preamble, relating a run in, in a forest between a Shade, an evil
sorcerer and three elves. The Shade, Durza, with the help of sentient humanoids
(Urgals), kills the two male elves and captures the female, Arya. Before she is
captured, Arya sends a blue stone SOMEWHERE… Anywhere, BUT the hands of
Durza! The stone is later revealed
to be a Dragon egg… and it landed in the mountain range called the Spine with
magic. Eragon, a fifteen-year-old
boy who lives with his uncle and cousin Roran on a farm near the village of
Carvahall! He is an orphan and knows nothing of his parents. While hunting in
the Spine, Eragon is astonished to see the Dragon egg, which he believes to be
a stone, appear in front of him.
Later, Eragon sees a baby Dragon hatch from the egg. Eragon names the
Dragon Saphira; they became one and the same. Eragon decides to raise the
Dragon in secret… until, two of King Galbatorix's servants, came to Carvahall
looking for the dragon. Eragon and Saphira manage to escape by hiding in the
Spine, but his uncle is fatally wounded and Galbatorix’s servant burns down the
house and farm. Eragon is left with no reason to stay in Carvahall, so he went
seeking vengeance for the destruction of his home and his uncle's death. Brom,
an elderly storyteller and (Once a dragon rider), who provides Eragon with the
sword insists on helping him and Saphira, accompanies him on his journey.
Eragon becomes a Dragon Rider through his bond with Saphira. Eragon is the only
known Rider in Alagaësia other than Galbatorix, killed the Riders a hundred
years ago. On the journey, Brom teaches Eragon sword fighting, magic, the
Ancient Language, and the ways of the Dragon Riders. While on his journey Eragon met a lot of relivant character
and the fantasy became action packed and enthralling. I love this book! Its complicated and mind numbing. It’s
thrilling and it’s full of twist!
Eragon is the
first book in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, who began writing
the book at the age of 15 and I must say… he did a smashing job. Brilliant!

Darkness falls ...Despair abounds ...Evil reigns ...Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in magic and swordsmanship, the vital skills of the Dragon Rider. It is the journey of a lifetime, filled with awe-inspiring new places and people, each day a fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and Eragon isn't sure whom he can trust. Meanwhile, his cousin Roran must fight a new battle back home in Carvahall - one that puts Eragon in even graver danger. Will the king's dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life .
Eldest, the
second book in the series, Follows the mêlée of Farthen Dûr. Ajihad, leader of
the Varden, (Rebels) is killed in a sudden surprise assault by Urgals. Leading
to the capture of Murtagh and the Twins (the Varden's chief magicians). After
swearing fealty to Nasuada, Ajihad's daughter and the new leader of the Varden,
Eragon travels to Ellesméra, accompanied by a dwarf, Orik, nephew and heir of
the dwarf king and Eragon's friend, along with Arya. Before leaving, the dwarf
king offers Eragon a place in his clan, Durgrimst Ingeitum, giving him full citizenship
rights in dwarvish society. (Which didn’t go well because the dwarfs are a
closed clan, they don’t adopt outsiders’ easily). Much of the books are
committed to Eragon's and Saphira's training with the ancient Dragon Rider
Oromis and his dragon Glaedr, and Eragon’s unsuccessful attempts at wooing
Arya. She is also suspected to still be mourning her love Faolin, who was
killed at the start of Eragon (the forest, one of the elf male). While in Ellesméra. The land of the elves, the spirits of the dragons heal
Eragon’s in a ceremony called the Agaetí Blödhren. When he woke up the next day
Eragon looked like an elf, and had elven qualities that made him much stronger
and more nimble. After the transformations Eragon pursues Arya again, but she
refused, leaving Eragon heartbroken. Meanwhile, Roran (Eragon's cousin and son
of Garrow) returns to Carvahall after learning of his father's death, and
discovers that Galbatorix wants him and his presence is endangering the entire
village. He had to leave… which he did, but took the entire village with him,
saving them from Galbattorix! After Eragon‘s training, he returns to the Varden
to help them in the approaching battle against Galbatorix's army. This book is
getting more intense and complicated, but it’s the ultimate fantasy and I love
it. Its full of suspense and twirl…. just as I like it. Oh! There is also a jaw dropping twist.
The author is amazing and I approve.
Brisingr (Inheritance #3)
By Christopher Paolini
OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.Following the colossal battle against the Empire’s warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.First is Eragon’s oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran’s beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix’s clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices— choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice. Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?
In Brisingr, the
third book in the series, Eragon, Roran, and Saphira rescues Katrina from her
kidnappers. After the rescue, Roran
informs Eragon that he and Katrina wish to marry, and that Katrina is pregnant.
On the day of the wedding, a small unit of soldiers, including Murtagh and
Thorn his dragon, attack the Varden. Yet again, Murtagh is difficult to defeat.
He seems extraordinary strong! Eragon and Saphira returned to Ellesmera to see if Oromis
knows how Galbatorix and Murtagh are so powerful. But then, in Ellesmera, Eragon
learns that Brom, his former mentor (book one), was his mother's…. and Eragon's true father. Eragon is told
the source of Galbatorix's power: many "heart of hearts", or
Eldunari, a gemlike organ which can contain a dragon's consciousness
indefinitely if separated from the body and gather energy from an unknown
phenomenon. Eragon also finds a deposit of an extraordinary celestial iron,
Brightsteel, used to make Rider's swords, and makes himself a new sword, under
psychic direction from the elven smith. Eragon names the sword
"Brisingr", with the startling result, the sword emanates fire, every
time Eragon says its name. (Brisingr means fire.) The story
concludes with Eragon relating how he feels lost in the absence of a mentor,
but is comforted by the fact that Galbatorix has at least one weakness, which means
there is hope. Funny, Action Packed, heart numbing and fascinating…. Great
Book!!!!

Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.
The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost? This is the much-anticipated, astonishing conclusion to the worldwide bestselling Inheritance cycle.
