Dawn & Winnie Book Reviews
First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World #1)by Jeaniene Frost From the New York Times bestselling author of the Night Huntress series comes a breathtaking new journey to the dark side of desire. The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows-her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield-and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness-and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her. He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human-even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together . . .Because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost
In First Drop of Crimson, we get an insight into the vampire world in a POV other than Cat's. Here we get a story of Spade- Bones' best mate and Denise- Cat's best friend. When a demon deal gone bad due to an ancestor's of Denise's reneging on their deal, Denise finds herself in a deathlybind . In her attempts trying to find help from her best friend Cat, she meets up with Spade instead, who gets tied into this mess. While trying to find the key to the huge ordeal that lays before these two, they find themselves drawn to each other. But with Denise's dislike for the supernatural world, and Spade's disdain for the mere humans, can and will they succumb? Quick quotes--"A vibrator can last all night, too, vampire! - Denise" - and - "As if Spade's chivalry would allow him to do anything to a woman. The harshest punishment she could imagine him dishing out to Cat would be refusing to open a door for her." - Jeaniene Frost is once again fierce, sexy and combative in this tale.
If you're not familiar with Jeaniene Frost's
Night Huntress series, then this book will be a little confusing!!! First Drop
of Crimson is an offshoot / stand alone novel in an already well-developed
world. In this spinoff Novel, we spent more time with Spade, one of the favored
secondary characters throughout the Night Huntress series (Bones BFF). In first Drop of Crimson, Spade and Denise
Macgregor (Cat's BFF) are the stars of this book. In this installment, Denise is still in mourning; she’d
recently lost her husband, so she’d decided she is going to take a break from
anything supernatural or vampires!!! But to her bewilderment her relatives are
dying for no reason and nothing is really adding up! being that she is well versed
in the supernatural world, she suspected something out of the ordinary! Soon
she had the proof she needed! Worst she’d gotten stuck with a demon problem… only because a distant and deceitful
relative of hers that she’d never even met thought he wanted more out of life and bargain
with Denise’s now shadow demon!!! When she’d called cat, cat and Bone were out
of the country and Spade didn’t want to bother them…. They had just survived a
mind-blowing ordeal! Spade starts out somewhat reluctant to assist Denise; he
quickly changed his refrain when the sparks from their earlier meeting starts
to fly (At grave’s end… Cat and Bones Christmas party). Spade on the other
hand, doesn't do lasting relationships with humans...anymore!!! (Broken heart and all). But, in the end
they belonged together… since we
are already familiar with the cast of characters this novel is evenly and
quickly paced! It was full of
excitement, and action… it also reeked of eroticism and I loved Spade even
more!!! I would love to be a fly in Frost’s mind, because with an imagination
like hers and her passion for writing, she could make… prophecies!!! I'd definitely recommend First Drop of
Crimson…
Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World #2)by Jeaniene Frost An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness . . And now one woman has stumbled into the shadows..Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares. At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears—this fearless, beautiful . . . human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable. But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction
So now we see what is going on inside that head of Mencheres. In this story Jeaniene writes fierce and sexy. Letting you see the side of the one we considered the bad guy so to say. Mencheres has not been one of the more favorable characters in the Night Huntress World, due to all the deceiptfull things he has done. But in this story we see his side and hear his story..and right now, I am so team Mencheres. In this story Mencheres must face all his demons that have caught up to him from all decisions (good or bad) from his past. While in this fight which he is surely loosing, he is rescued by an unknowing human Kira. in doing this Kira is pulled into a world she once only heard of in stories. and she is thrown in fighting for her life as well. Will Mencheres keep Kira in his world, or will Kira be destined to move on without him.? Special guest appearances from Bones, Cat and he oh so lovable Vlad... How does old school mix and mingle with the new young ones? Eternal Kiss of Darkness, shows that love knows no time limits or boundaries.
The Bite Before Christmas (Night Huntress - Complete World #8.5)By Lynsay Sands, Jeaniene FrostIn Lynsay Sands' "The Gift," Katricia Argeneau knows grey-eyed cop Teddy Brunswick is her life mate. She just needs to convince him they belong together, and being snowbound in a secluded cabin will make this a Christmas neither will forget.***It's "Home for the Holidays" in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. Cat and Bones may long to wrap presents and set up a tree, but this Christmas, an evil vampire and long-buried family secrets will threaten to take a bite out of their holiday cheer
It's Bone’s birthday, and to surprise Bones, Cat decided to throw him a surprise birthday…. Only to find out that one of their guest did show up. Curious? As it turns out, this guest had been attacked. Bones and Cat, chose to investigate their attacker, before their search begins, they uncover a surprising news that swiftly turns the potent pair (Bones and Cat) against each other and worst, threatens their relationship. The best part of this book is Ian and Frost always delivers. We got to see our beloved character except for Vlad… But all in all it was a fun book. Funny, action packed, thrilling and sexy!
Reckoning (Night Huntress - Complete World 0.5)By Jeaniene FrostIn New Orleans, a pair of undead serial killers is about to turn Mardi Gras into a horror show - unless the immortal hitman Bones can hunt them down first. From Jeaniene Frost comes a thrilling novella featuring characters from her New York Times bestselling Night Huntress series. Originally appeared in the anthology Unbound.

The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it. ~James Bryce
