Delirium Series by Lauren Oliver

Delirium (Delirium #1)By Lauren Oliver
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy. But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Lauren Oliver.... You had me totally delirious by the time I was done reading this book. Delirious, because I need more and I am going crazy just thinking about waiting until the sequel comes out.
A great book for the hopeless romantics like myself.
We follow Lena on a wonderful adventure set in America, in a futuristic setting, in a time where love is actually considered a bad thing, more like the root of all evil. There is an actual cure for love. SMH. Everything evil is due to that ludicrous thing called love. I cannot picture a society existing without it, but Lauren definitely makes it happen. In ninety five days Lena will learn what its like to love, she will see that it comes in all sizes and in different packages, and will have to make the ultimate decision. Can she? Will she? After a lifetime of being taught one thing compared to a few weeks of living another extraordinary thing, Lena will have to choose- can you give up everything for this thing called love? Will you live a life of monotony or one where everyday you can see the vibrant colors of life? Well in Delirium we are faced with those choices. Every time I think I have figured out this story, the author gives us twist and turns- definite shockers. You fall in love with some of the characters, others I definitely hated. I must say I can see both sides of the story here, even though, if given the choice, hands down I will always pick to be infected with AMOR DELIRIA NERVOSA
Book Rating:

Pandemonium (Delirium #2)By Lauren Oliver I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too.I buried her.I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame.Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

It's a love story at the core but unlike most romance novels which boringly revolve just around the couple and their drama - this explores ethics, politics and political resistance, freedom, justice and so much more. It faintly reminded me of 1984 by George Orwell.

I haven't read it. But Dawn has, and she said it was great. I think I would wait until the entire book comes out. I don't want to wait. :D
