Fever Series By Karen Marie Moning

Title: DarkFever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever # 1
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Hardcover: 309
Publication Date:  October 31st 2006
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens. When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands…
Darkfever is an immensely pleasant book with a charming heroine, MacKayla Lane, she narrates the way her prefect life was changed forever…  the culprit? A phone call from Dublin to say that her sister had been massacred! She decided to travel to Ireland to investigate Alina’s death! MacKayla was a Barbie when she arrived in Dublin, a pretty little naïve southern bell and pretty much silly. But, her attention was soon taken by some outlandish, bizarre events
Finally Mac meets Jericho Barrons (at least he isn’t the fire, only the frying pan… or the lesser of two evils?)… Barrons, is a very sexy rich bookstore owner...mysterious too! She is forced to face up to some unwanted new truths: she is a powerful Sidhe-seer; her sister was too… . Mac's investigations seem fruitless, yet she was persistent.
In the end Mac and Barrons team up in order to hunt for an ancient book, her sister's dying request. ... And then the fun begins... what a ride!
I just started reading Karen Marie Moning’s fever series and her writing style is mystic, fun, humorous, anticipation and captivating. I enjoyed every page! I couldn’t stop reading. I was fascinated and started on book 2 immediately.

Darkfever wasn’t what I expected in a fey series. I enjoyed the narrative of the author as well as her twists on fey. We follow Mac, the typical blond and beautiful ditz, who ventures to Dublin
To help investigate her sister’s mysterious unsolved murder. But it seems the more she digs a bigger hole is made the harder it is for her to climb back out. I found myself m liking a lot of the characters especially Barrons, who still remains a somewhat mystery to me.  There is also the equally mysterious V’lane who, despite his odd ways I have a slight liking to. In this world the fae can be equally beautiful as well as grotesquely ugly. Hot, steamy and a bit teasing. A good read although I did find that it lacked a purpose for me. This was more an introduction of our characters for possible future novels, but apart from that great book.

Title: BloodFever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever # 2
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Hardcover: 303
Publication Date: October 16th 2007
I used to be your average, everyday girl but all that changed one night in Dublin when I saw my first Fae, and got dragged into a world of deadly immortals and ancient secrets. . . .In her fight to stay alive, MacKayla must find the Sinsar Dubh—a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over the worlds of both the Fae and Man. Pursued by assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she can’t trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and powerful men: V’lane, the immortal Fae Prince, and Jericho Barrons, a man as irresistible as he is dangerous. For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them.
In this installment Mac and Barrons continues her hunt for Sinsar Dubh, a powerful Unseelie artifact containing the deadliest Fae magic. She is still recovering from the torment she experienced at the end of the previous book. Mac, the sweet naïve southern girl is starting to wise up and she is beginning to grow A spine! DuH! It’s about time. She finally found out that she had being adopted and a lot depends on her!  Worst, she is the only seer who can sense the book WHY?   AND What/ WHO the B.E.E.P is Jericho Barrons? Why does the LM want the book? Did he really kill Mac’s sister or did he love her? What does V’ lane (sex by death fey prince) want with Mac? All I say is Holy BEEP! It gets better and better!  (Hyperventilating) this series are just too damn good! What is it with this writer??? She is just amazing!  Great read!

The second installment starts right off where we left the last novel. Mac is recovering, Barrons is even more mysterious, we have the Lord Master to worry about, and the death by sex Fae V'lane is so intriguing. Ready for revenge as she discovered who her sister's killer was, with her new found gifts, Mac finds herself being pulled in all directions, not knowing who she can trully trust. The Sinsar -Dubh is still on the prowl, but I have yet to find out its true purpose. This one does have some stalling moments, where I seem to be reading on and on.In this second installment we see that the choices we have to make are not always the easiest, and in a world where no one can be trusted, the question we find ourselves asking is- What's in it for me.

Title: FaeFever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever # 3
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Hardcover: 327
Publication Date:  September 16th 2008
The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too.
When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.
OMG, what have I gotten myself into???  Faefever is a very dark book and it starts out dark too… right up my alley! This book possesses, enthralls, captivates, entices and very very dark! Brilliant!!!  Mac is still looking for ways to help humanity and kill her sister murderer and at the same time trying to run a bookstore. There is a war coming, stakes are high and every player in the game wants a piece of Mac and is desperate! V’ lane (Death by sex fey prince) is trying to woo Mac and his is laying it on thick. LM is promising to bring Mac’s dead sister back, Rowena is still an old hag (still don’t know what she wants) AND…. What the B.E.E.P. is Jericho Barrons???? Why does he want the Sinsar Dubh???  Everyone claims they want the book to keep the unseelie prison up and save humanity. But the problem is power corrupts and who to TRUST I love this series and I am so glad I stumbled into this series now. I didn’t know any thing about this series until the last and final installments was released… thank the gods for that… because the wait would have killed Me Literally! Karan Marie Moning is one hell of a writer! She mixes southern charm and sexiness shaken with dark humor and it mixes so ...so potently. In a game where you can’t trust anyone, everything seems too good to be true what do you do? Mistakes are bound to happen and in the end it HAD Cost Mac Dearly… I wept for her. What a brutal, merciless ending...  I went cold. I couldn’t wait to start book four… And I did! AWESOME!

“He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too”.

I understand what that Statement means…  when you love someone so much you can’t take a single breath without them… what will you do?
Okay, faefever was good for me but dragged in some parts, but that was just a prime for faefever. This one Karen does not stop. The fight to keep the Unseelie out continues. As the hunt for:"the book" continues, we get allot of action, new nemesis come in to play and Mac has allot more trust issues to deal with.. Everything gets so much more complicated as new alliances are formed, new friends are introduced and some dark secrets are to be revealed. I was definitely hooked from start to finish. Jericho Barrons has us all speculating with our theories, I'll save mine to the end, and V'lane is seducing me from the pages on which I read him from. Mac does get me sooo aggravated at times. Foolish little girl, but this novel ends with you pining so hard for more, I found myself literally at the bookstore at 10:30pm...Wanting more…

Title: DreamFever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever # 4
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Hardcover: 388
Publication Date: August 18th 2009
MacKayla Lane lies naked on the cold stone floor of a church, at the mercy of the erotic Fae master she once swore to kill. Far from home, unable to control her sexual hungers, MacKayla is now fully under the Lord Master’s spell.…In New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning’s stunning new novel, the walls between human and Fae worlds have come crashing down. And as Mac fights for survival on Dublin’s battle-scarred streets, she will embark on the darkest—and most erotically charged—adventure of her life.
He has stolen her past, but MacKayla will never allow her sister’s murderer to take her future. Yet even the uniquely gifted sidhe-seer is no match for the Lord Master, who has unleashed an insatiable sexual craving that consumes Mac’s every thought—and thrusts her into the seductive realm of two very dangerous men, both of whom she desires but dares not trust.
As the enigmatic Jericho Barrons and the sensual Fae prince V’lane vie for her body and soul, as cryptic entries from her sister’s diary mysteriously appear and the power of the Dark Book weaves its annihilating path through the city, Mac’s greatest enemy delivers a final challenge.…It’s an invitation Mac cannot refuse, one that sends her racing home to Georgia, where an even darker threat awaits. With her parents missing and the lives of her loved ones under siege, Mac is about to come face-to-face with a soul-shattering truth—about herself and her sister, about Jericho Barrons…and about the world she thought she knew.
Mac was kidnapped, enslaved, then turned Pri-ya, Fae sex aficionado! Jericho Barrons, in fact eight Barrons….  Once again rescued Mac. She was at her lowest… shell shock! It was painful.  But the once Barbie rose from her ashes like the Egyptian phoenix and became deadly.  Mac grew stronger, almost inhuman in this book, she didn’t let anyone push her around or tell her what to do. … It was a great read!  Dreamfever was eroticism as its best, enticing to say the least and the ultimate escape. Karen Marie Moning is a remarkable writer indeed.  And I have enjoyed every single book in this series. However the ending was highly suspenseful. An ending that would leave you reeling from shear pain yet excitement and such bliss that you find yourself fantasizing about the next book. Still who is Jericho Barrons???  And OMFG, Who the fuck did she kill?  Damn, cliffhanger!

My Favorite Quotes…

"Our sex is fierce. We will both be bruised. "I want it to always be like this," I tell him. "Try holding onto that thought."  "I do not need to try. I will never feel differently."  His laughter is as dark and cold as the place of which I dream, "One day you will wonder if it's possible to hate me more."
— Karen Marie Moning (Dreamfever)

"You're leaving me, Rainbow Girl."
          Karen Marie Moning (Dreamfever)

Mac is PriYa . But when the time comes for her knight in shinning armor to gallop in on the white horse, he does not show. What will she do? How can she fight her inner beast? She is now her enemies best friend (so to speak) The fight to defy the Pri-ya, to face the world accept your destiny, to try to define the word trust.... to find the truth...The walls are down, and there are no heroes..good guys..still questionable... the bad guys...can't really tell who they are either. And the challenge is there. Is this the final face with The Lord Master? Will we ever get an answer from Barrons? This novel was captivating; we get to see the other side of the Barrons. I was torn now with, my attractions between him and V'lane, who has yet some questions to answer. The book of course leaves us all standing at the edge of a damn cliff "literally" Where is Karen going? I don't know, but book 5 is already in my hand ready to be finished.

Title: ShadowFever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Series: Fever # 5
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Hardcover: 594
Publication Date: January 18th 2011

“Evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it’s good.
MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.
Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.
What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh—a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds.
In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.
Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac herself and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?
From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world . . . or destroy it.
OMG OMG OMG (Hyper-venting) WOW! ShadowFerver is one of my favorite books EVER! I read the entire series in 4 days…. Any regrets? B.E.E.P NO! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. Utterly Astonishing!
Spectacular!
Thrilling!
 Suspenseful!

Passionate!
 Erotic with a tasteful conclusion!!!
Brilliant! I can’t believe it’s OVER… gods I need more! I am so ADDICTED and will never get enough! I am going to read it again slowly…Mac finally got to know her true identity; she got her revenge on her sister’s murder… YOU will never guess whom!  And as for Jericho Barrons… He is the biggest BADDEST fuck!  who’s got all the toys! (And then some)!  But who cares, we want him anyway!

My Favorite Quotes:

"V'lane: Are you busy tomorrow MacKayla ?
Barrons: She's working on some old texts with me.
V'lane: Ah... Old texts. A banner day at the bookstore
We're translating Karma Sutra... Barrons said, with interactive aids."
—   Karen Marie Moning (Shadowfever)

"One day you do meet a man who kisses you and you can’t breathe around it and you realize you don’t need air. Oxygen is trivial. Desire makes life happen. Makes it matter. Makes everything worth it. Desire is life. Hunger to see the next sunrise or sunset. To touch the one you love. To try again."
— Karen Marie Moning (Shadowfever).

"I didn’t ask. Some things are better left unsaid.
He looked at me and I shivered. I never get enough of him.
Never will.
He lives.
I breathe.
I want. Him. Always.
Fire to my ice. Ice to my fever.
Later we would go to bed, and when he rose over me, dark and vast and eternal, I’d know joy."
     Karen Marie Moning (Shadowfever)

In this riveting finale to Mac's story, I must say Karen brought it on. We finally find out who Jericho Barrons really is, and what was in that damn basement. The hunt for the Sinsar Dubh continues. Or is it the game the book is playing is finally coming to an end. Who was the unseelie king? Where is the damn Queen. Christian is lurking somewhere...The druids, sidseers and mysterious clan of 8 all have their piece to put in. Mac's quest to find her sister's killer is finally revealed. But is it what she thought she would find? Are all those we thought against Mac truly her enemy, and are her closest friends the right ones to be trusted? With twists and turns and so many ways the blindfold goes on..I am telling you.. Don’t come to any conclusions. This fae series was great. Wish that she would have tied up a few loose ends, but it was complete in it's own. My body still heats for V'lane but my heart pines for Jericho Barrons. Karen has outshone herself. I WILL NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE USE OF A FLASHLIGHT AGAIN.OR THINK OF BELLY CHAIS THE SAME WAY AGAIN...EVER....
