Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The Hunger game series by Suzanne Collins are fascinating yet compelling
books. I call it “Gladiator meets Lost”. These books keep you guessing and
wondering what’s next! Lying in bed awake at night thinking about these books
isn’t too far from the mix! (These books are that great)!
It introduces
sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the
country of Panem. Panem is where a
controlling government working in a central city called the Capitol holds
supremacy. The story takes place in a future time period after the ruin of
North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of an affluent
Capitol and 12 surrounding, shoddier districts. As a reminder and punishment for
a prior rebellion against the Capitol, every year one boy and one girl between
the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are chosen randomly and ordered to
partake in the Hunger Games, which is a televised event where the
"tributes", must fight to the death in a dodgy outside showground
until only one remains. 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12
who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister,
Primrose. (Prim) Peeta Mellark, a
boy whom Katniss knew- who once saved Katniss's life is also participating from
District 12 A Must Read!
North America as we know it has changed
immensely. Or has it…War
continues, our young are sacrificed, and blood shed is celebrated like the
gladiators at a fight in the arena. There are twelve districts all lead by the
Capitol. Each district is responsible for producing a main mineral or raw
material for the capitol to continue their lavish living. Every year each
district must send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to submit
to - The Hunger Games- a game where only ne will survive. We follow a girl
Katniss, who makes the ultimate sacrifice, for her sister. The ultimate
sacrifice she makes, starts a great change of events which could lead to a
possible revolution…
With that she encounters
a new word where savagery, brutality and ultimate barbarity are the only ways
to survive. Katniss is forced to compete in a game where survival of the fitess
applies. She finds herself with Peeta another youth from her district as well
as 22 other youths in a tournament where they are placed in a setting until
only one of them survives. The creators of the game also known as the Capitol
controls many of the elements of this game and as the batle has started they
manipulate everything from the weather to daylight, pushing the candidates
closer to eliminating each other. When it seems like all hope is lost the
Capitol raises the stakes of the game for our district twelve youths. Can they
make it? It is up to Katniss with the world watching.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol. Catching Fire maintains the adrenaline rush of Suzanne Collins's series launch
Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne
Collins. As the continuation to The Hunger Games, it continues the story of
Katniss Everdeen and the illusory, futuristic nation of Panem. “Catnip” thought
her time in the capitol was only a speck in her past. She was trying to move
forward BUT, Much to her astonishment, Katniss has caused a rebellion! Due to the stunt she pulled to save her
and Peeta
Worst, President
Creep… Ahh Snow! Wants Katniss on
a platter (and NOT in a good way!) …
It’s not a paranormal romance and it is Intense. A great read Indeed! OH! By the gods… The cliffhanger at the end
of this book was totally atrocious! Wicked I tell ya!- I wonder what
Suzanne Collins was thinking when
she left us hanging… I definitely loved this book! I couldn’t wait to start on
MockingJay… the third and final book in the series. (Which I did right away!)
Catching Fire is a great follow up to the hunger games. After winning the
first hunger games Katniss makes an enemy out of President Snow. She also finds
herself torn between the affections of Gayle and Peeta.
President Snow is
determined to have his revenge, while Katniss has no choice but to take part in
yet again another set of Hunger Games. Will she make it? More secrets revealed,
new alliances made, the plot thickens and not everyone in the Capitol isn't whom
they appear to be.

My name is Katniss Everdeen.
Why am I not dead? I should be dead.
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding. It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plains--except Katniss. The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay--no matter what the personal cost.
Mockingjay is the third and final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy
by Suzanne Collins. Basically, following her rescue by rebels, Katniss
halfhearted agrees to become "the Mockingjay", a symbol of the
rebellion against the Capitol. In
the book, Katniss must deal with treachery and brutality against people. At the
same time she was inspiring HOPE in the upcoming war. Finally, Katniss realizes she wasn’t only the symbol of
hope, but also a PAWN in an age-old power struggle between President Snow and
the leader of district 13 (Coin)!
Mockingjay didn’t
have a faery tale ending, but it was an ending all the same. Beautifully
written, a great read! Powerful ending
So sad not quite hat I expected..It is done. NOT THE BEST OF THE THREE...
a lot of action... So Katniss is the girl on fire, district 13 is not destroyed
and Peeta is gone…
Mocking Jay is
the third and final book the compelling Hunger Game series. Katniss is now the
face of the revolution, which pretty much started from the moment she took her
sister’s place.
War is – now.
Apart from the other books this one is more—War is at every corner. Be prepared
with your tissue because there were many sad moments. I do not feel as strongly
for this book as I did for the other two. In some sense feels a bit rushed at
the end and some parts in the middle. Overall it was a great trilogy. Some light to shard, that no matter
what, human nature is such a fickle thing, and no one man is he cause or blame
for humanities suffering. When one is stopped another shall follow.
Books are the future of movies…
