Poison Princess Arcana Chronicles # 1 By Kresley Cole

Title: Poison Princess
Author: Kresley Cole
Series: Arcana Chronicles #1
Hardcover: 384
 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books
Publication: October 2nd 2012
She could save the world—or destroy it.Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux. But she can’t do either alone. With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?Who can Evie trust? As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

Poison Princess is a book that… I felt indifferent after reading it. It was… unforeseen and surprising. It was a mystery that kept me guessing to the point of frustration, but I think I liked it nonetheless, maybe… I don’t know. I love the cover art!

Evie is a girl who has seen weird visions all her life yet when she’d told her mom about her visions like her grandmother before her, Evangeline was sent to the asylum to be purged of her thoughts. Her entire summer was spent drooling and being brain washed. After the horrid summer, Evie couldn’t wait to begin school, a new semester with her faithful boyfriend, the rich always-happy Brandon…. Simple right? Well that’s until she met JD aka Jack Deveaux.

Jack and Evie have the ever- present attraction and hate relationship going on until her visions/ nightmare came to past. Population is close to nil. Survivors?  Some…
Apocalypse? Brought out the worst in humans… Evie and her mother did survive until Evie realized that there is more to her visions that meet the eye….

Evie is otherworldly, but is she good or bad, we aren’t sure…. Are there others like her? Yes! Good or bad? Not sure… er… read and find out. Did Jack survive… the apocalypse? Maybe. Is Jack other too? Huh!
I loved, hated & indifferent about this book? I am not sure yet. It was edge of my sit and the ending is still etched on my mind. I still don’t understand what all is happening but I will be reading the next chronicle.  Curiosity? Yep!  I do like the tarot angle All in All, it was okay.
