The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Title: City Of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instrument # 1
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Hardcover: 496
Publication Date: March 27th 2007
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy? This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadow hunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadow hunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadow hunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.
City of bones is the first novel in the Mortal Instruments series. It’s narrated in third person, so the novel is read from key players version of events.  There are lots of blooming romances for lasses, and mega action for lads.  The story is about a girl, ( Clary Fray). Clary has always lived a sheltered life… until that night at nightclub…. When Clary saw the shadow hunters and then everything changed. She was NEVER supposed to know about them… her mother made sure of that, but then her mother was kidnapped and Que sera sera…  she meet Jace- Sexy Jace Lightwood… (Sighs… :D) Jace is super hot!!!
Cassandra Clare has given suspense a whole new name!  The actions and suspense’s in this novel is utterly mind -bogging. Each page holds a new drama, a fresh eye-opener, and a new jaw-dropping experience. It is completely engaging. You’ll be hooked after the first chapter. I love this series, I have read this book over and over again, and it always feels like the first time.

HMM...Where do I even start? I was so skeptical to try it, but I ventured in, and I don't regret it. This book had me hooked from the start. We follow Clary, who has of course the male nerdy best friend Simon, they rule the world together,(at least their own bubble world) Everything goes haywire after she witnesses a murder. A strange murder, if that's not weird enough she the murderer is somewhat trying to befriend her. With this entire going on, her mother goes missing. Clary must enter a strange world where the rules are different, the word nephilim has a new meaning and the name Jace spells HOT and (vainglorious).  We also interact with a fun going Isabelle Lightwood and her stick by the rules brother Alec. This story flows well, had me reading non stop. The characters are likable. Cassandra writes with great humor and had surprising revelations revealed, action and a sure bit of drama.

Title: City Of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instrument # 2
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Hardcover: 464
Publication Date: March 25th 2008
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.
This is the second installment in the mortal instrument series. It is getting better! Clary found out that her life had been a lie, she is a shadow hunter and her father is the most hated man in their race! It turns out that her father hadn’t die when she was a kid and she has a brother! Heart broken, numb, and lost… she still wants to find a cure for her mother’s condition… she seem to be in a kind of stasis! Clary Fray is having some major issues, plus her best friend, Simon, is falling in love with her; her bad-boy crush, Jace, just might be her brother. It was a fun ride and Cassandra Clare has gotten me hooked. She is an amazing writer, and a major contender. Her heroine isn’t just pretty, she is strong and feisty and she knows what she wants! I loved reading this book! Too bad there is only one book left in the trilogy.

In City of Ashes, we continue Clary's search for her mom. She has more in sight now, as it is revealed to her, a world where almost every supernatural being thought never to exist, live among the clueless humans. After a mind blowing secret was revealed in City of Bones, Clary must face and overcome many personal demons, as well as the evil ones outside the institution.  We have the ever-humorous Magnus Bane, and Luke who may have more secrets than he let on to. Torn between choices of the heart and soul, Cassandra takes us on another riveting story, which had me hooked. I was a stranger to society while engulfed in the pages of this book. It keeps getting better. And I know I am not supposed to, but please oh please let some crazy miracle happen that Clary and Jace can be as one.

Title: City Of Glass
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instrument # 3
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Hardcover: 541
Publication Date: March 24th 2009
To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that enter-ing the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadow hunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight. As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadow hunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost?Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the final installment of the New York Times bestselling trilogy The Mortal Instruments
The third and final installment in the Mortal Instruments trilogy certainly lives up to the reputation of the first two – CITY OF BONES and CITY OF ASHES.
Clary has a task.  She wants to help her mother recover and Madeleine, her mother’s friend, is the only person who knows how to wake her mother up from her stasis. Clary has to travel to Alicante in Idris to get what she needs in other to help her mother. BUT Jace doesn’t want Clary to go, believing she might be in danger.
Clary did find her way to Alicante and the fun and action began! Cassandra Clare ACED this novel. The thrill begins right from the very first chapter and doesn’t end until the final page. It was satisfying ending – this is a book that people might re read for a long time…  I loved it.

It comes down to this the final battle. After these endless fights, the dark revelations a, new worlds opened up, Valentine must go down. He must or it will be the end of the shadow hunters, as we know them. In this third installment of Mortal Instruments Cassandra gives us action, love, hate, betrayal and a plot that is so big with twists and turns that has you smiling, cursing and scourging the pages for more all at the same time. We meet new characters, get an insight to the forbidden land, at times I felt as if all was lost, but Cassandra finishes of leaving me totally satisfied. I can't say more, but READ THIS BOOK. She brings it and never stops till the last page. Two thumbs ten toes and the rest of my body for this one

Title: City Of Fallen Angels
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instrument # 4
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Hardcover: 424
Publication Date: April 5th 2011
The Mortal War is over, and Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadow hunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most important of all—Clary can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price.Someone is murdering the Shadow hunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadow hunters that could lead to a second bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her. His mother just found out he’s a vampire and now he’s homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse wrecking his life. And they’re willing to do anything to get what they want. At the same time he’s dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other. When Jace begins to pull away from Clary without explaining why, she is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: She herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.
Jace. Evil? I really liked it; yet, I would have preferred that this series ended with City of Glass! Jace, can never get through all this drama! Why him? He is the pawn in so many fucked up games!!!! No parents, No Love, and the one person who can actually get through to him is a child! (Clary). Its wrong for Jace to be the scapegoat and for his suffering to be dragged on for 2 more books! I understand the power of love, but I rather Jace BE dead than suffer. The Jace we loved in the first three books is no more! Jace would never have let himself to be controlled or tortured with self-loathing like that. I still like the series, BUT I HATE this particular storyline...
Just not at Jace's expense! Sorry. As for Simon, I understand his torment and his alienation, but I don’t get his part in this new storyline.  I guess we will have to wait and see.
All in All. I am addicted. I want to know where this 2nd part trilogy is going… And I still think Cassandra Clare is an Imaginative writer.

Where should I start.... I must confess that when I heard that there was to be a fourth installment to the Mortal Instrument Series I was mad at Cassandra Claire. The City of Glass ended perfectly for me, what else could happen that we could not predict. Well... I was slapped in the face. I am ashamed at my latest confession, because Cassandra Claire's writing had me on edge; the suspense and thrilling adventure literally had me at the edge of my seat. She played connect the dots so well in this book with a cliff hanger that has me on the verge of getting ready to hunt Cassandra down to tell me what happens next. In this book we see the POV of three people mainly- Clary, Jace and Simon. Here and there of Isabelle ans Alec. In City of Glass we left Alec in a new relationship with Magnus Bane (and a new out of the closet confession), Clary and Jace found out that they could be together, Simon was finagling two girls, and Jocelyn and Luke were finally ready to embrace their hidden feelings.  Well in City Of Fallen Angels- COFA   everyone is basically trying to fight their demons faced in Idris while still trying to carry on their new lives. There is a new vamp in town- what is she up to? A new member to Simon's Band-- Jace might actually have some competition...naaaa.....but still, a wedding is being planned, dead bodies keep appearing everywhere young and old, and Jace has a secret that might just kill him. Where all these aspects seems to be of their own, the super magic powers of fate binds it all in the end. Filled with lots of shadow hunter action, true romance and a story that unravels getting better as you go on.All I can say, this is a must read. Can't hardly wait for the next one…
